Dear Parents and Carers,

Buckinghamshire Council have just launched their annual consultation on Home to School Transport.

This year the council have made no major changes in the transport arrangements for children and young people with SEND. The most significant change for this group is that fixed charges for council-arranged transport for 16-19 year olds with EHC Plans have been increased by 3%. Away from SEND-specific policies, major changes are proposed are to the charging structure for the Spare Seats scheme which allows children that are not eligible for free school transport to purchase places on council run buses.

The Council have asked us to publicise the consultation. They would be grateful if you took the time to read the documents and comment. FACT Bucks will be reviewing all the changes, responding on behalf of parents and carers of Children with SEND and posting our response on our website.

The council is also holding an online “SEND Transport Event” on 16th November at 7pm. This will cover SEND transport in general, not just the current consultation, and will be attended by senior council staff and the Councillor responsible for Transport. It is a chance to hear about future plans and to have your say. Click here to register: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/send-transport-event-registration-435663279597
