The Children’s Short Breaks parent/carer and child/young person engagement activity is now live on Your Voice Bucks:
We are seeking the views of children and young people with SEND, their families, carers and partners to help us understand how short breaks can continue to develop and improve. We want to hear from people who currently access short breaks, those who have used them in the past, and those who have never accessed them. Understanding why some families do not use short breaks is just as important as hearing from those who do, as it can help us build a fuller picture of local needs, experiences and barriers.
We have an online session on 4th August at 6pm, please email beth@factbucks.org.uk to register your interest.
Short breaks already provide valuable opportunities for children and young people to have fun, build friendships and develop independence, while giving families time to rest and recharge. We also know that experiences can vary and that services do not always meet everyone’s needs in the same way.
At this stage, no decisions have been made and there are no planned changes to current short breaks services. This engagement is about listening and learning from the people who use and deliver services, so that we can better understand what is working well, where there may be challenges, and what opportunities might exist for the future.
Your feedback will help inform future discussions and planning, as we explore how short breaks could become more flexible, inclusive and responsive to the diverse needs and preferences of local children, young people and families.
