The Local Area strategy for SEND is due for renewal at the start of 2020. More details will follow but the current strategy is available on Local Offer if you would like to review and send us your thoughts.

Jottings of the Chair
What has the Chair been up to? In the last few weeks, I have attended the Integrated SEND Board which has strategic oversight of all SEND matters in the local area which this time focussed specifically on parent engagement, especially in terms of person centred planning. I was also at the Chidren’s Partnership Board for discussions on mental health including the new schools based pilot and for an update on Family Support.
I have met with the Director of Education; Head of SEND; the Head of All Age Commissioning and the Head of Transformation in Education to discuss key issues including Transport (the ongoing struggles parents are experiencing with taxis; the impact of the new charges on drop out; and increasing the parent voice in the operation); how to coproduce the SEND Strategy; and how to address challenges in Speech & Language Therapy (which continue to limit the ability of the service to handle new referrals in a time sensitive manner.
Other FACT representatives have been involved among other things in the operational details of the Short Breaks offer; a new group focussed on SEND operations (which is currently looking at the Annual Review process); the stakeholder group for Integrated Therapies (where unfortunately only parents were present); and gaining an greater awareness of the NHS Integrated Care system.
We have also been present at the parent morning at Chiltern Wood school and the Access All Areas event for 14-25 SEND Young People.
If you have challenges or positive stories to share on any of these areas, please let us know by email email@example.com.
