FACT is getting busier every day with all the proposed changes going on and we now need more lovely people to join us. Set below are brief descriptions of positions we need to fill with wonderful volunteers. We will provide the necessary training and support and we can pay your childcare and travel expenses.
Book-Keeper – we would appreciate someone who can help us to keep our accounts in order – this will involve recording expenditure against budget. We need this to report our spending to the grant-making body so is very important.
Web Site Manager – is there someone out there with an interest in managing information who could help us to keep our web site looking fresh and up to date? This role would not include posting items onto the website although this capability would be very useful.
Getting Involved – We have received several requests from Bucks CC for more parents/carers to become involved preparing the Local Offer. At present this would mainly involve Mondays during school hours.
Short Breaks – Rona Hopwood of Bucks CC is keen to enlarge the Parent Advisory Group for Short Breaks to support the transition from the current short break services that have been re-commissioned and will all be managed by Action for Children for disabled CYP aged 5 - 19 years, from 01/12/13.
It will be a challenging time to ensure that where CYP are changing provider under the new contract, the transition is smooth.
Where Bucks CC will be moving to a Local Offer, for non-assessed short breaks, that the equitable distribution of hours is understood and communicated in a parent friendly way and implemented well for this service.
There is already a very small (3 parents) group that has supported the re-commissioning process to date, which Rona has facilitated.
She would like more parents to join this group and for it it to establish itself as strong parent led advisory group (PAG). This group can be as big or small as it likes and the Group could determine how often they should meet. Both Rona and Kim Hinves from Action for Children (who is the provider lead for this new contract) would be happy to meet with the PAG, possibly on a monthly basis, if this is useful to the PAG.
